Welcome to Little Chef’s Apron! Today, we will make vanilla pastries. I tried this during my vacation and it tasted very delicious, soft and fluffy!
I thought is was very hard to make but it seemed very easy when I actually tried it. You can try it in so many flavors, butterscotch, chocolate, strawberry and anything you like!
It was plenty of fun and you should definitely give it a try!
1 cup all purpose flour
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
¼ cup oil
1/3 cup curd
¼ cup milk or as required
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
1 cup whipping cream
3 tbsp water
1 tsp sugar
First, add curd, oil, sugar and vanilla to a bowl and whisk well. Mix until the sugar is combined with the curd and oil.
Place a sieve on this and add the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Sieve this well and slowly start incorporating the flour into the wet ingredients.
Keep adding milk until a flowy and smooth batter is formed. It must have a ribbon consistency. Grease a square pan with oil and flour and add the batter. Bake this in a preheated oven at 180 degree C for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Whip the cream on low speed first and then on high speed under an ice bath. I am using non dairy cream but you can you powder or dairy cream as well.
Whip until stiff peaks form and the cream doesn’t fall off the spatula. Slice the cake in two halves with a bread knife or a one that is bigger than the cake. If you are confident enough and have practice, then slice it in 3 parts.
Soak with the syrup of sugar and water and apply the cream evenly onto a layer. Place the other cake layer and repeat the process until the top. Don’t add any cream on the sides. Only between the layers and on the top. Trim the sides to get a clean cut and pipe out any design on the top. Refrigerate for some time and serve cold!
I am serving it with a white chocolate decoration, white chocolate ganache and an apple cinnamon crumb. T that time I was experimenting on food plating and keeping more elements on the plate. Hope you like it and do let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Question of the day!
On your birthday cake, what would you prefer, ganache( chocolate and cream) or whipped cream as a frosting?
