Welcome to Little chef’s Apron! Today we will make something that is incredibly delicious. It is a very easy recipe that anyone can make and it is a must try.
I first thought of this recipe at the start of my vacation when I wanted to make a custard and I wanted to try caramel cake. So I combined both of them to make this yummy dish! It is a butterscotch custard cake.
Starting off with the recipe,
Ingredients for the cake:
1 cup all purpose flour
½ cup curd
½ cup oil
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp butterscotch essence
1 tsp baking powder and ½ tsp baking soda
Milk as required
First, add oil, sugar and butterscotch essence to a bowl and whisk well. Then, add in the curd and make sure that the sugar is dissolved.
Place a sieve and add in the flour, baking powder and soda. After sieving, gently mix in together the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
Now, add milk slowly to make a smooth batter. Make sure that you add little milk at a time.
Make a flowy, smooth batter with a ribbon consistency. Pre heat the oven at 180⁰C and dust a 6 inch pan with oil and flour. Pour in the batter and bake at 180⁰C for 30 minutes.
De mould the cake after it is completely cooled and slice in two layers.
Ingredients for the custard:
2 cups milk
3 tbsp cornflour
2 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp caramel sauce
1 tsp vanilla essence
First, add milk to a pan and let it come to a boil. Then, mix the cornflour with some milk and add it to the boiling milk.
Also add the sugar and vanilla and cook until the milk thickens. After that transfer it to a bowl and mix the caramel in.
Refrigerate it for at least 1 hour.
Butterscotch balls/crushed praline
Dark chocolate for garnish
3 tbsp caramel sauce
Add a generous amount of custard and spread well. Also put the caramel sauce and the butterscotch balls over the custard.
Place the second cake layer and pour the custard over this until it reaches the plate. Garnish with some dark chocolate and serve cold!
