Cappuccino cake : very easy to make

Welcome to Little Chef’s Apron! Today we’ll make something out of a really simple ingredients. Something that most of us love with all our heart. It’s a very easy recipes yet incredibly delicious. When you bake it , the aroma of this cake would make you realise what a great decision it was to make this cake!

The batter:

Ingredients:

3 tsp coffee powder

1 tablespoon water

1/2 cup wheat flour

1/4 cup all purpose flour

2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk

1 tbsp powdered sugar( optional)

70 ml/ 1/2 cup water

1 tsp vanilla essence

1/4 cup salted butter

3 tbsp cocoa powder

1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp baking powder

Directions:

. First whisk together the condensed milk, butter, essence and sugar if you are adding for 2-3 minutes until it’s well combined.

. Then , add in the coffee dissolved in a tbsp of water into this and mix it properly.

. Then sieve together the dry ingredients and give it a good mix.

. Preheat he oven at 180*C for 10 minutes and grease the pan with oil and dust some flour on it.

Add the rest of the water ( should be lukewarm) slowly watching the consistency. It should not be a very thick or thin batter. It should have a flowy consistency.

. Now, add this to the pan and tap it for excess air bubbles that may shrink the cake while baking.

. Bake the cake at 180*C for 30-35 minutes.

Note.: Don’t use cold ingredients. Make sure that the condensed milk and the butter are at room temperature.

Note: if you overmix the batter than it’s incorporated, then your cake would become dense and not spongy.

Note: Don’t keep opening the oven to check your cake as the heat would then escape and just about when the cake is about to rise it would shrink. Use a six inch tin for this recipe.

Coffee syrup:

Ingredients:

3 tbsp water

3 tbsp sugar

2 tsp coffee powder

Directions:

. Mix all these ingredients together and make sure that the water is hot.

. Let the cake cool down for 1/2 and hour inside the mould only. De mould it after and make holes with a toothpick just like this.

. With the help of a spatula with which we grease the tins soak the cake with the syrup.

. Cut it into pieces and serve without any icing as a tea time cake.

Condensed milk can be replaced by 2/3 cup curd and 1/2 cup powdered sugar.

Butter can be replaced by 1/4 the cup unflavoured oil

Sugar can be replaced by jaggery

Cocoa powder can be replaced by chocolate syrup but in that case the waters quantities should be less.
