Welcome to Little Chef’s Apron! Today we’ll make something that is a delicious recipe which is also healthy. It doesn’t include butter and flour and without these ingredients we’ll make a wonderful, spongy , delicious, fresh tea cake.
The tea cake:
1 sweet apple
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup oil
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/4 tsp soda
. First take a sweet apple and make sure it’s not sour and hard.( do a taste test).
. Peel it and take out its seeds and the stem .
. Cut it vaguely into pieces and make a fine purée out of it in a blender jar. What we have here is basically applesauce. The taste of this is so magical that you wouldn’t even taste the apple after it bakes. You can also use bananas and any other pulpy fruit in place of apple.
. To this add the oil and give it a good mix. To this add the sugar and vanilla and mix it as hard as you can.
. To this add the wheat flour( sieved) as its not as light as maida. You can also used all purpose flour but wheat flour gives the best taste in this recipe. Sieve the baking powder and soda with this .
. Mix it nicely only until the flour is incorporated. Preheat the oven at 180*C for 10 minutes .
. if the batter is too thick or thin add milk / wheat flour accordingly. This happens because of the apple you are using.
. The consistency should not be flown and the batter should fall in intervals
. Grease your mould with oil and dust it with flour.
. Pour the batter in it and bake it at 180*C for 30 minutes . The time may vary and check the cake at 25 minutes. Don’t open it too much or the heat would escape and the cake would not rise.
. The tooth pick should come out clean and let it cool on room temperature for 20 minutes.
. Cut it into half and slice it into pieces.
