Welcome to Little Chef’s Apron! Today we’ll make something that seems to be very common but one mistake could ruin it. It could be the amount of heat in the oven , the butter you’re using or the sugar. Here I’ll give you tips and ideas to make chocolate chip cookies in a healthier way.
1 cup wheat flour
1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp chocolate chips( dark or milk chocolate)
1/3 – 1/2 cup milk
Pinch of salt ( optional)
Note: if you want to make these extra healthy , you can also use clarified butter( desi ghee) . It would still be nice and chewy.
. First whisk the softened butter until its light and fluffy.
. Then, add in the sugar and vanilla essence. Make sure that the sugar is completely powdered or else your cookies would have a grainy texture.
. Mix it well for 5-7 minutes and make sure that the sugar is dissolved completely.
. For the dry ingredients , add the wheat flour, baking powder and soda into a bowl and give it a good mix.
. Now add the wet to the dry ingredients and make a dough out of it. It would be a little crumbly because you’re using softened butter and not melted.
. Add milk as required and make a smooth dough out of it. The key to a good cookie is that the more you whisk, he better it becomes.
. A trick that was passed on to me by my mom, is that you can add a tsp of semolina in to the dough. This would result in a chewier and crispier cookie.
. Add the chocolate chips and leave it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
. Preheat the oven at 180*C for 10 minutes and shape the cookies. Now you can make these in any shape and size but a classic cookie is a circle, it’s all up to you.
. This recipe makes about 15 medium sized ones but you can adjust the ingredients according to the quantity.
. Bake these a 160*C for 10 minutes, 170* for 5 minutes and 180* for 2 minutes.
.Let them cool a little and serve warm!
