Welcome to Little Chef’s Apron! Today we’ll make something that is mainly a part of American cuisine. Something that doesn’t require a lot of practice and something that, with good tips and hacks, you will get the best of it!
The mashed potatoes:
5-6 peeled potatoes.
4 tbsp butter
1 tsp spices like oregano, salt etc
3-4 cups water
. First cut the potatoes in small pieces as shown:
. Now, add them in a pan and also the water. Let this come to a boil on high flame and then lower the flame and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
. Now, the time depends on the type of potatoes your using so keep checking if they are done. They should be right about the type where a knife can cut through easily.
. Let them cool down for 3-4 minutes and then take a seive and a spatula.
Mash hem through the sieve and you’ll end up with a creamy texture. A lot of people just mash the potatoes or some even use a ricer but the best texture of creaminess in mashed notators is through a mesh.
. Melt the butter in a pan and then add the potato mixture. Add the spices and when it’s all combined it should look like this:
. Leave this aside and get started on the rice.
Chopped vegetables of your choice
2 1/2 cups soaked rice
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp oil
1 tsp soy sauce
2 tbsp chilli sauce
5 cups water for cooking and 5 for soaking
. First soak the rice in 5 cups of water for 30 minutes.
. Then, chop any vegetables you like or you could even let it be plain.
. Now, add the oil to a pan and fry these vegetables till they cook. It would mostly take about 2- 3 minutes.
. Now, add some oil in a deep vessel and then the water. Transfer the strained rice in it and let it cook till the water is evaporated.
. Once the rice is done, add the vegetables in it and make sure everything is mixed.
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all purpose flour
1 cup milk
1 tsp spices
2 tsp pasta sauce
. First melt the butter in a pan and then add flour.
. It will form a thick crumbly texture and then add the milk.
. It will start to thick and then add the spices.
. Divide this into two halves and add the pasta sauce in one half.
Plate it and serve warm.
